Don’t worry, you don’t have to do it by yourself if you have a number of feeds to read. AideRSS which is a firefox extension will do it automatically for you.It uses a technique named postrank for this, in which each feed is rated on a scale from 1 to 10. This rating is based on several factors like number of comments, diggs etc.See how it filters the feeds.
As you can see in the image below, you can select the best, great or good feeds in the google reader after adding the aideRSS extension to your firefox, which will make reading feeds a lot easier.

Choosing the type of view(good, great, best) will sort the list accordingly.

As shown above a rating is attached to the article. In addition to the ratings, some comments from the users are also added for the given article.
You can get this extension by clicking the link below.

Thanks for the mention, Amit!
As a note, we do have two versions of the Google Reader extension — the one you linked to, and a second in beta, which plays better with Firefox 3 and Greasemonkey. It’s available here: http://blog.aiderss.com/firefox-3-extension-beta-testing/ (Of course, being beta we’re still working on tweaking it so it works its best, and welcome testers and feedback.)
Also, of course, the PostRank functionality isn’t just available in the Google Reader extension. Folks can analyze and manage feeds via our website, and PostRank is built into a number of online RSS readers, like NewsGator Online and trawlr.
