iPhone 3G to be available in July

There has been a lot of hype in tech blogosphere about 3G iPhone over past few months and now Apple has officially announced to release iPhone 3G on July 11th this year. Steve Jobs made this announcement this morning while inagurating Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

8 GB iPhone 3G would cost $199 which is one-third the cost when Apple first released  iPhone, while 16GB iPhone 3G would cost $299. As the name suggests, iPhone 3G will support 3G cellular networks which will make data access 3.5 times faster than currently used EDGE technology.

iPhone 3G would also include GPS functionality and would have enhanced battery life to support 300 hours of stand by time and 10 hours of talk time which is a lot of improvement over existing iPhone.

With few improvements in Software too for better functionality, iPhone 3G will be released in 22 countries.
