In a recent Security Advisory, Microsoft has suggested windows users to stop using Apple’s Safari browser on all versions of Windows XP and Vista. According to advisory, a threat has been detected which allows remote code execution on windows machine if Safari browser is installed.
The advisory says that windows users should not use Safari browser unless a security patch is released.
This threat is due to some conflict with default download location of Safari Browser which is Desktop and how windows Desktop handles executable files. The attacker could use this download location to run executable code on user’s machine.
How to Avoid Threat?
The threat can be avoided by simply changing the default download location for Safari Browser.

To change default download Location, Open Safari Browser, go to Edit > Preferences and under General Tab, set your Download Location to something other than Desktop.
The advisory issued by Microsoft can be viewed here.
