Here is some good news for Indian iPhone lovers who have been longing for official release of iPhone and iPhone 3G for a long time. One of the major mobile telecom operator Vodafone has started pre registration for iPhone 3G.

Though the company has not yet made any announcement of when iPhone would be available in India, but they have started pre registration on their website and via SMS.

However, as the Indian Government has yet to decide on distribution of 3G spectrum, therefore, Vodafone has put a notice besides registration form that the device available will be compatible with only 2G networks.

Bharti Airtel, another major mobile operator in India is set to launch iPhone later this year.
