Gmail is perhaps, one of the widely used free web based e-mail service. It has been so popular due to its nice and easy to use intuitive interface that caters the needs of all levels of users. On one side, it is easy to use for newbies and on other hand, it has extremely vast set of features that catch the eyes of techies.
Below we list three lesser known but useful features of Gmail.
1. Map This:
Whenever you open an e-mail message that contains an address in USA, Gmail automatically provides you with a link near the right side sponsored links to view that address on Google Maps. It is quite useful in case you need to know the exact location of the sender.

2. Add to Calender:
If an e-mail message contains a date in its subject field, then Gmail would generate a link so that you can add an event corresponding to that date to your Google Calender.

3. Open attachments in Google Docs:
If an e-mail message contains a Word(.doc), Excel(.xls), PowerPoint(.ppt) attachment, then besides providing link to download your attached files, it also lets you import and open your attachments directly in Google Docs. Also, you can view your attachments as html file in case you do not wish to use Google Docs.

This feature is quite handy in case you do not have any Office package on your computer(especially if you are on a public computer) and need to view and edit your attachments.
Earlier, yesterday Gmail came with a new feature to view your Gmail account activity and remotely logout from other sessions, which is active for all users now.
