Sometimes, this feature is not always a convenience as anyone who has access to your windows account would be able to know. Here’s how to hide your top secret program from appearing in this list permanently:

1. Start registry editor by typing regedit on Run(Win + R) Menu.

2. Move to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\

3. Look for your program folder under Applications. e.g. if you want to hide Windows Movie Maker, find moviemk.exe folder. If your program is not listed, right click on Applications and create a new key and type in the name of the executable(e.g. firefox.exe) as name of the key.

4. Now that you have found the folder for the application, expands it to see all of its values. Then right click in right pane and select New and then select String.and type in NoStartPage as the name of the string variable.

5. Close the registry and now you’ll never see that program again in Start Menu Frequently Used Programs List.
