Virtual Desktops is one of the feature that lets you run multiple applications simultaneously without any clutter on your Taskbar. With it, you can keep different applications running in different virtual desktops, though everything will run on same machine. Here is a nice utility for Windows XP, that lets you create virtual desktops with some nice effects.
Yodm3D is freeware application for windows with which you can easily add virtual desktop functionality to Windows XP. When you’ll switch between virtual desktops, using the hotkeys you specify in options, it’ll display the virtual desktops in a nice cube.
Linux users may already be familiar with cube effects available with Compiz. With Yodm3D, you can have similar cube effects in Windows XP. It allows you to customize opacity of cube sides while switching, its zoom level, the background to use while switching and much more.
