Now if you are a regular user and know what is there in Windows tour, watching the tour every time XP boots is quite painful but this balloon tip keeps poping up every time you boot XP. Disabling this feature can be relieving. This is how you can achieve this:
1. Go to Start –> Run, and type “regedit“.
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows CurrentVersionAppletsTour
3. Right Click on Tour and create a new DWORD value.
4. Name the value as RunCount and give its value as 0.
Balloon tips on start menu and task bar items:
Another annoying feature are the balloon tips that Windows XP displays. In order to get rid of them follow these steps:
- Run gpedit.msc .
- Go to Administrative Templates under User Configuration.
- In the right frame search for Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu Items.
- Double click it and in the window that appears select Enabled. Click OK.
- Now run gpupdate . ( Go to Run in Start Menu, type gpupdate and hit enter).
Unability to use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel:
1. Run the registry editor
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesUninstall
3. In the right frame, search for DWord NoAddRemovePrograms.
4. Alter its value to “0” to disable it.
5. If you don’t see this DWord you can create it as well, because when it is not created, it means it is not defined. So its always better to define it.

Another annoyance is the error reporting messages that we see whenever an application or program terminates in abnormal way.

- Go to My computer –> Properties –> Advanced.
- In this tab click on Error Reporting button down below.
- Choose Disable Error reporting from there.
