Multi-network messaging client Digsby rolled out its latest test version promising minimal memory usage. Users around the globe used Digsby with a smiling face except one single complaint that Digsby consumed around 125-150 MB of RAM on their systems. This test release is centered around this main issue with many other improvements.

Here’s an excerpt from official Digsby blog that revealed Digsby team’s devotion towards removing this problem.

Many people have reported that Digsby is taking 70MB - 110MB during normal use. If you leave Digsby running for a while, the memory leaks caused RAM usage to climb to 150MB+ on some systems. We completely reworked the architecture to use less memory and also improved the memory management by releasing objects when they are no longer needed.

Unlike previous releases which were rolled out on weekly basis, this release consists of 2 months of improvement code, thus Digsby team is hopeful of better user response this time.  Other improvements that the team has focused on are performance, automatic crash reporter, bug fixes and enhancements.
