In this video, Joop from ThenextWeb demonstrates how easily Feedburner Feed counter can be inflated with just a basic trick. To inflate the subscriber count, what Joop did is create an OPML file containing same RSS url a thousand times and then importing it into an RSS Reader like Netvibes.

This is a serious issue that must be addressed by Feedburner/Google asap as popular blogs show Feedburner widget to display RSS Subscribers because readers usually prefer to subscribe blogs with large amount of readership.

But with this simple hack in mind, i doubt whether the counters displayed on most of the blogs are genuine or inflated? What are your views about it, tell us in comments below.
