Full V/S partial RSS feeds

You might have noticed some blogs publishing partial RSS feeds. How do you feel when you have to click on that additional link( Read the full story..) in your RSS reader in order to read the full post? Well, if you ask me, such partial RSS feeds are very painful and annoying to me. Full text feeds can help in generating higher revenues for bloggers if they realize the power of full text feeds.

The reason behind publishing partial feeds

The reason why some bloggers don’t publish the full feeds is the fear of loosing revenue. Bloggers who are not facilitated with adsense for RSS feeds are scared of the fact that the readers won’t visit their blog when they are provided with full text feeds. The fear of loosing impression and clicks’ revenue surrounds them

Here i’m listing down a few reasons why full text feeds rock as compared to partial RSS feeds:

  • Whenever you publish the full feed of a terrific post, it excites the readers and drives them to visit your blog. Readers visit your blog to comment and participate in the discussion. Partial feeds may not excite the readers much as such feeds don’t convey the real theme of the post.
  • How do you feel when a pop-up opens when you visit a web site? Very annoying!! Ain’t that ? This is because you need to click an extra button to comfortably view the page. Same is the case with partial RSS feeds. It is very annoying for the readers to click an extra link in order to view the full post.
  • Sometimes chances may be that your blog server is down for maintenance. In such situations full text feeds may be of great help keeping your readers in touch with your blog.
  • Full feeds keep the readers happy as they don’t have to download the full page of blog site in order to read the content of their interest. In some countries, the Internet connections may not be fast enough. Full feeds are of great help to readers residing in such countries.
  • Moreover the RSS feed readers are mostly geeks and have a number of feeds to read, they don’t bother to click that extra link to read the whole post( unless the post is by an A-List blogger).
