Hey, now you just need a phone call to wake up your pc from its power saving sleep state. This is a great news for people who like hibernating their pc’s rather than switching it off. Well this concept is different than hibernation or standby techniques as it reduces the total power consumption by 85% in it’s sleep state. A normal fully on desktop pc consumes more than 60 watts and some consumes even above 100 watts, but with this techonolgy enabled, pc will consume only 10 watts in the sleep state.
The first intel motherboards with this technology will be shipping in the next month as said by Joe Van De Water, director of consumer product marketing for Intel. The computer will wake up only for calls from services to which the user has subscribed.
