Stay updated on Olympics with Google Tools

Google Summer GamesGoogle is having deep love for Beijing Olympics this time. This time, Google has released a dedicated Olympics site located at http://www.google.com/landing/summergames2008/index.html featuring various tools that help you stay updated with latest buzz over at Beijing.

Here are some of its features.

iGoogle Gadget

The site features an iGoogle gadget that lets you view the day’s events by sport name and country which is participating in that event. Another tab lets you view medals won by different countries. And the News tab provides with updated news on Olympics.

Olympics Maps

On the homepage, there is a Google Maps application that lets you view medals won by different countries directly on Map. Also it showcases when and where different event are going to occur under Events tab. This one’s quite intuitive to use. Another feature of this Maps application is Stadiums using which you can view various Stadiums and  the events which are going to take place in those.

Earlier, YouTube has also started its Olympics channel to broadcast Olympics videos and Google has created a Doodle for its homepage to mark the Olympics inauguration ceremony.
