Multiple Inboxes in GmailIf you have been using labels and filters of Gmail extensively, then you might be aware that if a filter applies label and skips a message from inbox, it is not visible directly when Gmail loads in browser, you have to click on Label name under labels box to get to the filtered message. But now you can access your labelled messages along side the inbox as Gmail Labs got a new feature named "Multiple Inboxes".

Simply enable this feature under Labs settings and you can have multiple panes in your Gmail inbox right away. You can add up to 5 different panels either on side, above or bottom of your inbox. To configure which panel shows which e-mail messages, go to Multiple Inboxes under Settings panel.

Multiple Inbox Settings

You can use search operators of Gmail to customize each of the panels. e.g. To show messages labelled twitter, use is:twitter as your search query for a panel.

Here’s how Gmail inbox looks with multiple inboxes docked to right side.

One thing this labs feature misses out is reordering of the multiple inboxes using drag and drop though you can reorder the panels easily from settings panel by swapping the search queries of different panels.

This one’s a big time saver and productivity enhancing feature from Gmail Labs team.
