If you are a morning walker and a bit of adventurous type who likes to explore new path every day, then here’s a nice tool for you which will let you keep track of how much distance you covered and calories you burnt on various paths. With Gmaps Pedometer, you can mark your walking path on Google Map and it’ll calculate the distance of your walk.

Use the search bar at top to find your location with appropriate zoom level. Once you have found the place, hit Start Recording and Double click at a point in the map to make a starting point for your walk. Then again double click at another point on your way to mark points on the way. Continue marking points until you reach the end point.

Though Gmaps Pedometer automatically marks the path as you start adding marker points, but if you need more freedom, then you can select manually in Draw route option on left side.

Gmaps Pedometer will mark the path and will show the distance covered in left side menu. Now you can click on Turn on the calorie counter and enter your weight to find out how much calories you’ve burnt.

And if you want to create path for cyclists, select that option in Draw Route and Gmaps Pedometer will take care of one way roads on the way and will select your path accordingly.

You can save your route so that you can compare it with other routes later on to find out which one is better, and believe me, you won’t need a pedometer in your shoes to track your morning walks.

MakeUseof has a complete guide explaining each and every option present in Gmaps Pedometer. Head over there if you want to learn more or start using this tool on your own and tell us your experience in comments.
