IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. All mobile phones are assigned a unique 15 digit IMEI code upon production. To find out the IMEI number on your handset type *#06# from your homescreen or you can find it by removing your phone’s battery.
The Government of India has today asked the mobile operators to discontinue the services for those mobiles that do not have a valid IMEI number.
