Hey, now you just need a phone call to wake up your pc from its power saving sleep state. This is a great news for people who like hibernating their pc’s rather than switching it off. Well this concept is different than hibernation or standby techniques as it reduces the total power consumption by 85% in it’s sleep state. A normal fully on desktop pc consumes more than 60 watts and some consumes even above 100 watts, but with this techonolgy enabled, pc will consume only 10 watts in the sleep state.

It was expected to be released in early august but it has arrived early. Firefox 3.1 is nicknamed as Shiretoko. The release note says that current users of Mozilla Firefox should not use Shiretoko Alpha 1 but I have found it to be stable. One of the most eye catching features that has been added is the new tab switching interface which allows for page thumbnails to be browsed when switching. The other major feature is the enhancements to the syntax used for searching in the Smart Location Bar.

A laptop for just $10??? Yes its true, India is developing a laptop worth $10 after creating worlds cheapest car. The news was confirmed by the Indian Minister of Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari in New Delhi on Tuesday. The laptop will target higher education applications. The research for this project is being carried out at Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras. Cuil can prove to be one of the biggest rivals of Google in coming days, especially after it’s big-bang launch. Cuil is an old Irish word for knowledge. Cuil is pronounced as “cool”. It is launched by a team of four members who were all once employees of Google. Cuil has indexed 120 billion web pages, which according to them is 3 times more than any other search engine. It is also interesting to know that Google has never disclosed the size of their index.
